Our German language school in Cologne is located close to the city centre in the so-called Südstadt, a district well-known for its lively atmosphere with many little shops, bars and restaurants. The next tram stop is at 3 minutes walking distance, as well as one of the university canteens and a beautiful park with a typical German beergarden inside.
The school itself is situated in a former monastery and consists of 9 bright and quiet classrooms on two floors, a student library with CD, video and DVD facilities, an open-plan office, a little cafeteria and a nice garden – ideal for the breaks. We offer free internet access and WiFi for all students at school, as well as homework assistance in the afternoons.
Our school of German in Köln is recognized by the «Bundesverband deutscher Privatschulen» (VdP), the Swedish CSN, and other local institutions and universities. We are an official test center for the European Language Certificates (www.telc.net).

Cologne is the oldest of Germanys big cities. More than 2000 years of history have left their mark on Cologne. And it is not only Colognes famous cathedral - a gothic masterpiece - which bears testimony to times gone by. Numerous buildings, sculptures and gardens provide a vivid impression of the old Cologne.
Today Cologne is a modern, lively and cosmopolitan city: hub of trade fairs, university town and - with its many radio and television centres and over 350 film and TV production companies - the unquestionable media capital of Germany.
Furthermore, Cologne offers pure culture! Opera, philharmonic orchestra, numerous museums, theatres, cinemas, concerts of every type, over 100 art galleries and innumerable antique dealers...
In the evenings Colognes vibrant nightlife will tempt you with its countless clubs and trendy bars. Highlights of the calendar year are, above all, the wild days of revelry during the Cologne Carnival (February); the August Ringfest, one of the biggest music festivals in the world; and, of course, the yearly Gay Pride celebration on Christopher Street Day, with its colourful parade of ecstasy (July).
Cologne highlights
* Cosmopolitan city in the west of Germany with more than 2000 years of history. * Wide variety of art exhibits, festivals & concerts (LitCologne, Art Cologne, music festivals c/o Pop, «S.O.M.A.» and others). * Open-minded media capital and university town with a vibrant night life. * Europe's best carnival party (6 days and nights in February). * «Kölner Lichter» ships parade and fireworks (July). * Germanys largest Gay Pride celebration (CSD 1st weekend in July). * Numerous Christmas markets (December). * Centrally located in Europe, close to Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.
And so that you come into close contact with the German language and culture outside the classroom, we will provide you with a full cultural program.
Enjoy the wide variety of cultural activities on offer and discover with us the secrets of this fascinating city at the heart of Europe!
At the end of each week we will inform you of the cultural program of the following week.
Among the things on offer will be: Historic tours, sports, films, Colognes nightlife, theatre visits, excursions (like boat rides on the Rhine or bicycle tours), seminars on current affairs, a barbecue party or our famous karaoke-party.
The cultural program takes place on three afternoons / evenings a week during summer (July and August), and once a week during the rest of the year.
Although there arent normally any activities organised for the weekends, we will always give you some advice, e.g. for daily trips to Bonn, Koblenz, Frankfurt or Düsseldorf. If you like you could also easily visit Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris or Brussels at the weekend.
Accommodation with the school is of course optional, and a course can be booked independently.
You may occupy your accommodation from the arrival day (Sunday) until noon on the last Saturday of your course. Flat and family places are limited and we recommend you to register well in advance.
